Merry Christmas!

Grandma and Grandpa Chou came to New York to celebrate Christmas with us.

A few days before Christmas, we went to Central Park.

On Christmas day, we had a lot of fun opening up gifts.

And we managed to get a nice family picture in front of the Christmas tree.

Atlantic City

Atlantic City: December 18-20

We were fortunate to be able to go on a much needed couple's getaway to Atlantic City in December. The night we arrived at our hotel, there was a snow storm that brought in 3-5 feet of snow. The storm continued the following day, so many of the stores were closed. That didn't stop us from having fun. We ate lots of food, gambled a bit, shopped, and slept a lot.

Jumbo shrimp stuff with Imperial Crab on a bed of spinach, tomato, leek risotto. Scampi sauce drizzled over the dish.

Too bad this dish is not on the regular menu. I would drive 2 hours to eat this dish again. We were about to lick the plate clean when we realized that using our slices of bread would be a more civilized way to ingest every last morsel of the amazing flavors.

Banana cream pie with caramel sauce. The best banana cream pie we've ever eaten.

Philadelphia

We drove out to Philadelphia to pick up our computer that was in storage at a friend's apartment. We thought that since we were going to be in the area, we had to have a Philly Cheese Steak.

While doing research, two places seemed to be the place to get cheese steak sandwiches: Geno's Steaks and Pat's King of Steaks. We decided to go to Pat's, unbeknownst to us that Geno's was right across the street! From the looks of it, the rivalry must be fierce. You can feel the pride in the neighborhood as both places seem to have their loyal followers.

On the day we went, it was 35 degrees outside and both places had a long line. With only outdoor seating, we thought our fingers were going to fall off while we were eating and had to resort to eating all the greasy goodness with our gloves on.

I am now a fan of Cheez Whiz on my Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches.

Thanksgiving 2009

David really wanted to cook Thanksgiving dinner this year. It was so successful, we will probably be doing it every year.

Happy Anniversary!

Dave and I were able to celebrate our 5th year anniversary in New York.

We started off with brunch at the Mandarin Oriental.

Then we walked through Central Park and went to the MET.

In the evening, we watched the musical, Wicked, off Broadway.
